“Impassioned, intelligent punk” (DIY) group A. Swayze & the Ghosts are a potent force within the world of modern post-punk. Following the release of their critically acclaimed, ARIA-nominated, “end to end faultless” (The Guardian) debut album Paid Salvation (2020), the band has been capturing the attention of global audiences with rousing music conceived by a nervy charge and drilled urgency.
Led by the charismatic and enigmatic lead singer Andrew Swayze, they have amassed a fervent following with their incendiary, and oftentimes, “unpredictable, risky and unhinged” (triple j) live performances, with the likes of The Guardian, NME, MOJO, BBC1, Beats One, triple j, Clash Magazine and many others among their fans and champions.
A. Swayze & The Ghosts continually push the bounds of what it is to be ‘punk’. They expand their sound on new single ‘Cool Cucumber’ – which was produced by the band and mixed by Andy Savours (Arctic Monkeys, Rina Sawayama, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) – synthesisers and saxophones are brought into the mix to compliment their frantic urgency; its spacious groove an invitation to just-damn-dance, with the song both lyrically and sonically symbolising the progression of the band into a genre-melding, dance-music-meets-70s-New-York-punk outfit.
