RONA. (Everywhen)

RONA. is a Kaytetye producer and DJ whose sound is deeply grounded in the vast desert landscapes of her home, Mparntwe in central ‘Australia’. Blending the rhythms and landscapes of desert Country with the pulse of club culture, she crafts immersive sonic experiences that are driven from her life moving between many worlds. Since her breakout 2022 release, Closure, RONA. has emerged as a force in electronic music, building a catalogue that channels the deep storylines she’s connected to. Her Ancestors soundtracked the first sunrise and she continues their legacy, exploring rhythm, sovereignty in sound, and oral storytelling in evolving ways. Her most recent release To the Ground is a bold sonic and visual experience, while her 2025 It’s All Here EP confronts conversations on the contemporary race to space with generations of knowledge embedded in culture and Country. RONA. is an artist  presenting a provocative manifesto of sound and storytelling, often calling on a journey inward, to evolve with the wisdom and connection to Country that has guided the oldest living civilisations in the world. RONA. has left her mark on major festivals, including Laneway, Pitch Music & Arts, RISING, and most recently Meredith Music Festival.

Mparntwe / Alice Springs-based Kaytetye producer and DJ RONA. is proud to announce Everywhen, a new day party series with its inaugural event taking place at the newly-opened Lango Stage at Footscray Community Arts in Naarm / Melbourne on Saturday 5 December with a blistering lineup featuring RONA., Becca Hatch (live), Yikes, naycab and Stacie, plus special guests, presented by RRR.

Across her creative practice, RONA. has built a career grounded in Country, community and collective movement, bringing people together and creating platforms that amplify First Nations voices and perspectives. RONA.’s long-term vision is to bring Everywhen home to Mparntwe in the Central Desert. The series centres First Nations and Indigenous artists alongside People of Colour from across this continent and the world, creating a space for collective movement, connection and resistance that honours and strengthens power and sovereignty.

At Everywhen, the location where the party is held is just as impactful to the atmosphere as who is playing; it’s where sound comes together with the story and energy of Place. RONA.’s headline set is crafted specifically for this edition at Footscray, developed through relationships with First Nations Elders and knowledge holders connected to the region including Uncle Larry Walsh and Stacie Nicholson-Piper. RONA. will be drawing from field recordings of nature, birds, Country and waters and stories of Place and lived experience that are important to the Maribyrnong area into a moving electronic set.

“It’s a completely emergent way of working,” RONA. shares, “based on relationships and what contexts the set is being created in. I sit in Country with people, and build songs around knowledge and stories that people want me to share, always starting with the energy of a story, sound, and place, and writing in response to that.”

Joining RONA. at the inaugural edition of Everywhen is proud Kamilaroi/Samoan woman and ARIA Award-nominated, NIMA-winning R&B, electronic and dance-pop artist Becca Hatch – one of so-called Australia’s most compelling and fast-rising voices – who will be performing live with her band including from her conceptual EP Black Flower Project due February 2027, and Boorloo-based Wongi DJ and producer Yikes. Known for effortlessly gliding through a variety of genres tied together with his signature style of deep, broken and percussive sounds, Yikes has cemented himself as an unstoppable force in the so-called Australian music landscape.

The Everywhen lineup has been specifically built in recognition of the extraordinary sonic world, community and networks each artist has built in, with the lineup featuring artists deeply tied and embedded within the Kulin Nation: naycab, aka Gunai/Kurnai, Gunditjmara, Wiradjuri & Yorta Yorta essayist, activist and DJ Nayuka Gorrie, an important mainstay in club culture across Naarm / Melbourne and the Kulin Nation and Victoria more widely as a voice and advocate; and Wurundjeri, Dja Dja Wurrung, Ngurai Illum-Wurrung  and Irish woman Stacie, a Djirri Djirri Dancer and a public speaker for Wurundjeri Land Council with a deep connection to the possum drum. Stacie’s late Aunty Vicky Nicholson-Brown – her Mum’s sister, her Elder, Aunty and mentor – passed the possum drum to Stacie through her knowledge, guidance and mentoring. Each beat carries gratitude for what she shared with the world, and acknowledges the responsibility of carrying that knowledge forward.
