Winten
Winten is the moniker of Naarm/Melbourne-based artist Bridgette Winten. Writing mostly at night, in her bedroom, Winten’s songs are an introspective collection of tenderness and triumph, drawing on themes ranging from alienation to intimacy.

Navigating her life as both a musician and photographer, she finds inspiration in human connection, demonstrating incredible warmth and emotional sincerity within her work.

With the release of ‘Violet Town’ and ‘Bad Ones’, Winten has showcased equal amounts of vulnerability and self-assuredness, with the latter track utilising soaring vocals, layers of warm guitar instrumentation intertwine, hook-filled synth lines, and driving drums to create a masterful and up-tempo indie/pop gem.

Together, they form tastes of Winten’s newly-announced debut album Waving To My Girl. Written over a two year period in the confines of her bedroom, the album offers a tender and triumphant collection of songs that gently reflect on romantic and familial heartbreak, growing pains, insecurity and acceptance, all the while acknowledging and loving an ever-present inner child.

The eleven-track debut was recorded over the span of a year with producer and audio engineer Matt Redlich (The Paper Kites, Hannah Cameron, Holy Holy), at four different locations: The Aviary Studios, Bellbird Studio (#1 Dads, Big Scary, Maple Glider), Woodstock Studio and Redlich’s very own home setup, providing a consistent and welcome source of inspiration to the process.

Carefully executed yet sprawling instrumentation from regular collaborators and bandmates Malachi Milham (Maple Glider), Darvid Thor (Karate Boogaloo, The Cactus Channel) and Leigh Fisher (Julia Stone, Missy Higgins, Dope Lemon) bestow a palpable sense of synergy and trust as key components throughout the record.

warm and wondrous… Winten builds a radiant world of soft rock and indie pop enchantment.
