Jerome Blazé

A relentlessly community-minded artist with a multi-faceted creative practice, Jerome Blazé’s eclectic sonic universe refracts elements of electronic, folk, neoclassical and soul through birdsong and natural light.

Initially inspired by his upbringing in the secluded, picturesque Southern Highlands of so-called NSW, Blazé spent his adolescence learning how to produce, virtual crate-digging and soaking up his natural surroundings, an influence that can be felt tangibly through his gentle, widescreen compositions.

His pivotal move to Eora/Sydney proved the catalyst for the intrepid artist’s creative community-building, as he began working as a producer for Nick Ward, Odette, Thandi Phoenix, and Paul Mac as well as commercial work for Louis Vuitton and Melbourne Fashion Week, all the while building skills in jazz and classical arranging.

His golden-hued double-A side release DAWN features a transcendent, sprawling sonic collage that feels endlessly evocative ‘Waking Up’ and ‘Paddington 2’, a beautifully soft expression of optimism and childlike wonder and a continuation of the core spirit of community that runs through Jerome Blazé’s work.

…impeccably detailed, richly textured and wholly encompassing… It’s the kind of music that whisks you away, helping you momentarily escape as it warmly wraps its way around your mind.

Jerome Blazé – Waking Up

Blazé’s distinctive live setup combines a wind trio, improvisation, group vocals and live electronics – he sold out both his 2022 debut headline shows at The Vanguard, a collaborative show between Sydney folk-adjacent artists Sarah Levins, Oliver Beard and Ivy-Jane Browne, and accompanied Ngaiire at the Sydney Opera House alongside the Sydney Symphony Orchestra the same year.
